Looking at the prices and conditions of used PS3s makes me even more infuriated that my mom sold off mine. I had a Super Slim that I got as a gift from my uncle. I’m pretty sure it was second hand from somewhere but I still had one. Wasn’t just a barebones console either, I had two controllers, a Move with two wands (yeah I know it’s a fucking PS Move but you could at least use the controllers for PSVR1), and a lot ton of games, most of them shit but I at least had Sonic Unleashed, GT5 Prologue and the PS2 Prince of Persia trilogy plus The Forgotten Sands.
So naturally one day I went looking for my PS3 and my parents said they handed it to the Salvation Army. They tried to gaslight me by saying I wanted them to get rid of it (if anything get rid of my Switch, I don’t want that), and then they came clean and said they got rid of it because they thought I said it couldn’t play US games… dummyS. I SAID IT COULDNT PLAY US BLU RAYS AND ONLY NOPHONO GIVES A FUCK ABOUT PLAYING BLU RAYS ON A PS3 IN 2026, WE HAVE A WHOLE ASS HOME THEATER WITH A 4K BLU RAY PLAYER IF WE WANTED TO WATCH MOVIES. IF YOU DID ANY RESEARCH YOU’D KNOW THE CONSOLE ITSELF IS REGION FREE FOR GAMES. At least I could cope to myself and say “well it was a newer model, those can’t do CFW”… except now you can solder a Pico and do CFW on them. I have my 360, but those are a headache to do things with as you need to RGH the thing and once you do good luck ever connecting it online. Microsoft isn’t like Sony, they’re not gonna let you have an obviously hacked console with pirated games on it and let you get away with it. So I’d have to buy games for it, which is a pain as I can only get physical titles, I can’t even get the digital games or any other digital goods because Microsoft being Microsoft shut down the 360 Marketplace. Now I’m looking for PS3s on eBay, Marketplace, Goodwill, etc. and they’re either covered in scratches (so I’d have to do a shell replacement at some point which is more work) or cost hundreds of dollars. Fuck my life
