/Christ/ - Christianity General

General thread
>there weren't razors back then rich people and romans had servants pluck each hair individually so most normal people were forced to let their hair and beard grow out
They had bronze and iron back then, they had razors no doubt
sharpening a razor is technologically uncomplicated and they sure as hell knew of whetstones by that point

I'm reading some things claiming iron razors were just becomeing the thing around the time Jesus is thought to have lived

Can someone explain why many old testament practices were abandoned completely?
I do understand the whole idea that those laws were made for an age of sin, and that Christ died for that sin and brought us into grace, so we don't need to sacrifice animals and shit anymore:
But what about the more simple stuff, like the three yearly feasts? Why not follow the rules of passover (minus the sacrifice) just out of remembrance for God's hand in saving the Israelites, and by extensions, leading to Christ saving all of us?
Is it because Christ opened the religion up to gentiles and there's no more need to treat the Israelites with reverence since anyone can follow God?
I don't mean this as a gotcha or anything, it's just that some of those traditions seem like a good way to honor God. I also have not been to church at all recently, I'm just going purely off of what I've read so far, so sorry if this is an easy question.

https://biblehub.com/1_corinthians/11-14.htmwhy do Christians often depict Jesus with long hair even doe according to this verse its disgraceful and against nature
I'm not at all qualified to talk on this, but from what I've "researched", the disgraceful part was that men at the time would typically only have long hair to disguise themselves as women or something.
At the same time, it could be "disgraceful" in a social sense, much in the same way that homeless people today don't cut their hair, but most people do. In that sense, I would see Jesus's hair as a sort of humbleness.
And then there's the nazarite vow that Shroot's sock-puppet mentioned. Samson's mother was also told to never let his hair be cut, so maybe that idk

My life flows on in endless song,
Above the Earth's lamentation
I catch the sweet, though far off hymn
That hails a new creation

No storm can shake my inmost calm,
While to that rock Im clinging!
Since Christ is Lord, of Heaven and Earth
How can I keep from singing?

Through all the tumult and the strife,
I hear the music ringing
It finds an echo through my soul
How can I keep from singing?

No storm can shake my inmost calm,
While to that rock Im clinging!
Since Christ is Lord, of Heaven and Earth,
How can I keep from singing?

2. go to church. no exceptions. you are cheating yourself and missing out on many beautiful things without going to the church. a community, the services, and the sacraments are very beautiful and you cannot live as a Christian without them.
Thank you very much for this pointer in hindsight. I've been going to Monday and Tuesday services the past month now, your advice was and still is objective.
